Monte Powell, for the past two decades serving as president and CEO of The Powell Companies; including Village Green Retirement Campus in Federal Way, Daystar Retirement Village in West Seattle, and Powell Property Management in Des Moines, has announced he is handing off his responsibilities as chief executive officer of his companies to Wendy A. McGee. “I’m bringing my activities down a notch,” he says.
Wendy McGee brings to the company an extensive background in finance, having served as chief financial officer for Blood Bank Computer Systems for eight years, which provides computer services to 32 community blood centers coast to coast. Before moving to Washington in 2000, Wendy was vice president of operations/CFO for Virginia Blood Services in Richmond, VA, for seven years. Wendy has been the controller for The Powell Companies since 2000, and director of operations since August 2006 for Powell Property Management. Monte says that Wendy “has distinguished herself through a period of significant growth in the company.” He adds, “I have every confidence in her leadership abilities as we take on new challenges in the next decade. We wish Wendy every success in her new role.”
Monte Powell will retain the title of president.
The Powell’s recently broke ground for construction of twelve new cottages on the 20 acres occupied by Village Green Retirement Campus in Federal Way. Wendy is excited about this new development, and says she is looking forward to her increased responsibilities. “I plan to continue enhancing the already excellent services we deliver to our current residents,” she says. “Going forward, I want to make sure our premier communities are attractive to new residents and to experienced, motivated employees.”
